A Crew Ready for Anything

Fort Green’s diverse team—security, drivers, stage crew—ensured smooth operations. Key team members observed and adjusted as needed, stepping in to manage challenges like traffic control and pedestrian safety at the bar's entrance.

Managing the glastonbury vibe

Glastonbury isn’t your usual circus. Fort Green had to fit right into the madness. Patrons were issued with a secret item to gain access to the bar. But having the item wasn’t a free pass—right of entry was still controlled on the door to ensure all guests were amicable and created a melting pot of festive vibes. We were there, not just to keep it safe, but to keep it strange, the way Glastonbury likes it.

Chaos on the Road

A historically headache intersection, was managed to ensure pedestrian safety while facilitating vehicle movement on a tight, dead-end production route. By day two we saw the implementation of an adapted approach, improving production crew communication and vehicle flow across a swathe of the Glastonbury map.

Initially directed to manage entry to the Guerilla bar

Patrons had to present a particular item in order to access the bar which is open from 2200 to 1000 for the duration of the festival. Fort Green (FG) founders and brothers Niall (N) and Tom (T) were introduced to Debbie Armstrong of Strong and Co. FG operates existing infrastructure at Glastonbury via the Notting Hill Carnival experience which is going into its fourth consecutive year.

This meant that other key FG team members could observe the operation in its first year and be able to step in if required to assist with any rising issues. Our on-site personnel have a wide range of skills and experience from security to drivers to stage crew. Glastonbury is a magical place, anyone who has been will tell you that there is nowhere quite like it. It is an honour always to be given the opportunity to work alongside the 35,000+ other crew members to deliver what we consider the best festival in the world.

Given the setting there was of course a creative element

Patrons who have the secret item are not guaranteed access and that forms part of the game of trying to gain entry to the most exclusive hangout. FG controlled the first public facing hurdle patrons had to pass for access. This required some acting, a good sense of humour and a warm personality.

In the end NG & TG worked the gate controlling ingress and egress to the bar as well as facilitating movement of pedestrians and vehicles through probably the most dynamic junction in the site, managing the constant flow of pedestrian traffic, prioritising their safety crossing the main production route in the SE corner which also happens to be a single track dead end road.
